About the role

Oyster is looking for a governance‑focused lawyer to join its Legal team as Senior Counsel, Governance. In this 12‑month fixed‑term position you will partner with the Global Expansion team to design, launch, and maintain new legal entities worldwide, ensuring they are compliant and audit‑ready from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Lead governance and structuring decisions for each new direct entity, selecting the appropriate corporate form, ownership model, and licensing pathway for the jurisdiction.
• Drive the hands‑on execution of entity launches, including coordinating filings, engaging registered agents, appointing directors and officers, and setting up bank accounts and licensing paperwork.
• Build and document scalable governance processes to support operational readiness and smooth hand‑over to the legal entity management team.
• Collaborate closely with Global Expansion, compliance, and finance stakeholders to ensure alignment with corporate strategy.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a strong background in corporate governance, entity formation, and cross‑border licensing.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments and taking full ownership of end‑to‑end projects.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple jurisdictional requirements simultaneously.
• Based within +/-3 UTC to support global coordination.
