Rail Product Development Engineer

About the role

Hydro Extrusions is seeking a Rail Product Development Engineer to lead aluminium extrusion product development for the rail platform across Europe. You will translate customer needs into technical solutions, ensure compliance with quality and HSE standards, and build strong collaborative relationships with customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate new customer requests, conduct feasibility and capacity assessments.
• Provide technical input for offers, including cost evaluation and specification development.
• Support product and profile design, manage engineering changes, and solve technical problems.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation (drawings, 3D data, specifications).
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Controlling, and Operations.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships and participate in technical discussions.
• Contribute to pricing tools, cost optimisation, and value‑engineering initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, HSE regulations, and customer requirements.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Experience in aluminium extrusion and product development, preferably in a project‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics and aluminium design principles.
• Familiarity with rail standards and product lifecycle processes.
• Proactive, independent working style with strong collaboration skills.
• Fluent English; additional languages (German/French) are a plus.
