Global Category Manager – Direct Materials

About the role

The Global Category Manager will lead the development and execution of procurement strategies for direct manufacturing materials across the Business Group. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive cost efficiency, risk management, and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement global procurement strategies for assigned direct materials categories.
• Draft, negotiate and manage supplier contracts such as framework, quality assurance and development agreements.
• Analyse cost structures, conduct benchmarks and drive continuous cost optimisation.
• Plan, prepare and execute tenders, and manage the full tender lifecycle.
• Collect and prepare demand forecasts for global demand planning.
• Identify and implement cost‑reduction programmes aligned with business goals.
• Manage category‑specific risks and maintain a balanced supplier portfolio.
• Handle supplier escalations and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Required profile

• Upper‑intermediate English (B2) and advantage in German.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Strong strategic procurement and category‑management competence.
• Solid understanding of supply‑chain processes, cost structures and resource planning.
• Excellent analytical, solution‑oriented and communication skills.
• High ethical standards, proactive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
