Experienced AI/ML Researcher (m/f/n)

About the role

ESET is looking for an experienced AI/ML researcher to join its Incident Creator and AI Research team in Bratislava, within the Technology Division. The team detects malicious activity by combining correlation rules with machine learning models applied to terabytes of behavioural data, and also builds incident-handling tooling and automation, including potential AI SOC solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process behavioural data for training models that detect malicious activity.
• Build and evaluate prototypes on in-house GPU servers, iterating on architectures and features until they reach production quality.
• Deploy models into production and integrate them with existing detection and incident-handling pipelines.
• Monitor, maintain and optimise deployed models across their full lifecycle, from drift detection to retraining and performance tuning.
• Explore novel architectures beyond applying existing models when opportunities arise.

Required profile

• Practical understanding of modern AI/ML methods, knowing which models fit which problems and how to optimise them for production.
• Proficiency in Python and its AI/ML ecosystem.
• Experience with AI/ML lifecycle tooling and infrastructure for production model serving and lifecycle management.
• Ability to work independently and own model development from start to finish.
• Strong drive for continuous learning and keeping up with state-of-the-art research.
• Desirable: university degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics or a related technical field; basic understanding of computer and network security; experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (AWS).

• Base wage from 3,000 EUR gross, with possible increase depending on skills and experience.
