Application Security Architect

About the role

As an Application Security Architect at Johnson Controls you will embed security and privacy throughout the product lifecycle of intelligent building, connected product and smart city solutions. You will act as a trusted advisor to engineering, product and business teams, shaping security strategy and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Guide development teams on secure coding, threat modeling, security architecture and security‑by‑design principles across cloud, mobile, embedded and connected products.
• Lead secure SDLC activities including security requirements definition, architecture reviews, code reviews, security testing and remediation planning.
• Translate regulatory, customer and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., NIST 800‑53, ISO 27001, SOC 2) into practical security controls and development practices.
• Collaborate with security champions, architects, engineers and product leaders to balance security, usability and business objectives.
• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities and industry best practices, sharing knowledge across the organization.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, governance, risk, compliance or product security.
• Hands‑on experience with NIST 800‑53, ISO 27001 or SOC 2 frameworks and ability to evaluate risks and recommend controls.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and proven ability to build trusted relationships with engineering and business teams.
