Senior Consultant – State Aid & EU Funds

About the role

PWC’s State Aid & EU Funds team in Bratislava is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead and expand its portfolio of advisory projects for public and private clients. You will design state‑aid schemes, draft grant applications and ensure compliance across a range of EU programmes such as IPCEI, Innovation Fund, LIFE, CEF, HORIZON, RRF and ESIF.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end projects on state aid and EU funding, from scoping and design to implementation and quality assurance.
• Define delivery standards, delegate tasks, and apply QA, peer‑review and checklist methodologies.
• Identify risks early and devise practical solutions to keep projects on track and clients satisfied.
• Provide advisory expertise on scheme design, aid intensity, instrument suitability and compliance with business objectives.
• Conduct market, financial, competitive and regulatory analyses to support grant applications.
• Prepare high‑quality reports, analyses and studies for internal use and client delivery.
• Support financial modelling and data‑analytics activities that underpin decision‑making.
• Apply EU rules (GBER, CEEAG, Regional Aid Guidelines) and prepare notification materials for the European Commission.
• Design and evaluate calls for proposals, draft guidelines for beneficiaries and set up compliance monitoring processes.
• Coach junior consultants, build business pipelines, lead proposals and manage stakeholder relationships with public authorities and corporate clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in state aid, EU funding or related advisory work.
• Proven track record of managing complex projects and leading teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior client management and public institutions.
• Willingness to travel occasionally across Slovakia and Central‑Eastern Europe.
