Area Sales Manager – Neuro/Oncology/Hematology

About the role

The Area Sales Manager will lead, coach and develop a high‑performing field sales team in Bratislava, driving patient impact and commercial objectives for Novartis' neuro, oncology and hematology portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver sales targets, market share and profitability using data, analytics and market insights.
• Lead, coach and develop Sales Representatives, fostering a performance‑driven culture.
• Execute structured field coaching, joint customer visits and document activities according to International Commercialization Excellence standards.
• Drive adoption of new commercialization models, omnichannel and customer‑centric engagement strategies.
• Review field effectiveness assessments and implement capability development plans.
• Build strong relationships with key customers and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Provide territory insights and actionable recommendations for brand and cross‑functional teams.
• Ensure compliance with Novartis policies, ethical standards and financial governance while managing area budgets.
• Identify and develop future talent and successors within the sales organization.

Required profile

• University degree in life sciences, medical, business or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare sales.
• Proven first‑line people‑management experience with strong coaching and talent‑development capabilities.
• Track record of achieving sales targets and managing competitive brands or product launches.
• Strong analytical and strategic mindset with ability to interpret data, KPIs and market insights.
• Fluency in English and the local language.
