Indirect Tax Risk & Assurance Analyst – International Tax Controllership

About the role

Amazon is seeking an Indirect Tax Risk & Assurance Analyst to join the International Indirect Tax Controllership (IITXC) team. The role provides independent oversight, periodic assurance testing and residual risk reporting across Amazon's international indirect tax operations, focusing on International Stores and expanding to all business lines.

Key responsibilities

• Operate recurring operational and transactional data extraction as part of 2LoD risk evaluation.
• Analyse and manipulate extremely large data sets using data‑analytical tools.
• Interpret testing results, collaborate with cross‑functional teams and assess impact on the risk profile.
• Oversee remediation actions, generate metrics for leadership and propose additional testing plans.
• Leverage and develop tools and AI to improve efficiency and enable assurance activities at scale.

Required profile

• Ability to analyse operational and transactional data to identify control gaps and formulate risk mitigation recommendations.
• Experience with data‑analytics tools or BI platforms (e.g., advanced Excel, SQL basics, QuickSight, Tableau).
• Strong interest in technology and AI, capable of working with technical colleagues on automated controls.
• Experience operating in multi‑jurisdictional environments with complex indirect tax obligations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, Finance or related field and at least 3 years of experience in VAT/GST advisory or assurance.
